Our first school wasn’t really a school at all, it started in a single room: the maths room at GRW, known then as The Green Room Project. Many of the traditions and ways of working that still shape the Green Room today began there. Circle time grew from simply sitting around a table. Shared lunches between staff and pupils, the walk to sport, quiet chats over board games, the value of small classes and one-to-one time - these became the foundation of something lasting. It was a space for honest conversation, where people could feel safe, seen, and unjudged.
The name "Green Room" is a nod to those beginnings, but it’s also become something more. What it now means belongs to those who’ve been part of it - staff and students, past and present. A space to grow, to prepare for whatever comes next - even if next feels uncertain.
Today, The Green Room Foundation runs two independent schools. The original site is in Windsor, (GRW) tucked into the Victorian streets; the second is in Kingsley, (GRK) set on Old Park Farm - 120 acres of Hampshire countryside. Each school offers its own unique opportunities, but both are rooted in the same ethos that has guided us from the start.
We also run a post-16 provision: The Green Room College (GRC). It’s designed to support students as they continue their journey into adulthood. Whether they move on to further education, employment, or launch their own ventures, we help them take the next step. GRC is based at The Swan Pub in Clewer, Windsor — a space that offers students real-life experience in a working environment, and a fresh way to learn.
