West End Trip

We made Green Room history on December 5th when we had our first school trip to the West End. Eighteen pupils accompanied staff on a coach to London where we disembarked into a winter wonderland! We split into small groups based on interest and took time to wander around the West End, stop in the shops on Oxford Street, see the lights in Covent Garden and get lost in the bookshop.

After a morning of adventure we needed to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. The generous people at SoHostel on Dean Street offered us the use of their breakfast room so that our kids could have a quiet space to reconvene and relax until we needed to walk to the theatre. It was an absolutely perfect place to share stories of our morning and compare souvenirs and pictures - thank you SoHostel for the (free!) use of your lovely space!

Then finally it was time to head to the Apollo Theatre for the matinee of “Everybody’s Talking about Jamie”. The show was spectacular and our school was represented by The Green Room pupils in the audience. The music and story had us all dancing in our seats - and sometimes on our feet!

We came out of the theatre into a rainy London evening and were welcomed back onto our warm and dry coach. This may have been the point where the whole group fell asleep but that’s not The Green Room style! Instead, an impromptu sing-along ensued through the London traffic and led us back home with our sides hurting from laughter. What a fantastic day out and well done to all our pupils for their exceptional behaviour! We will definitely be revisiting the West End again!
