Enrichment (Red) Lesson
The ‘red’ lesson changes each Half Term to give pupils the opportunity to learn about and experience wider areas of the curriculum. This can range from RE and coding to life skills and orienteering.
We offer a wide variety of lunch clubs for those that want to keep busy and entertained through the school day. These change half termly and often lead on from student suggestions, ranging from animal care and drama, to rave club and boxing
Duke of Edinburgh
Year 10 complete the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award each year. They are supported to work on a skill and dedicate their time to others before completing an expedition!
Pupils have the opportunity to learn a variety of musical instruments. Peripatetic guitar, piano and drum teachers offer 1:1 lessons and can put enthusiastic pupils through music grades
We like to offer as many enriching trips as possible to the pupils at GRK. These range from educational visits linked in to subject planning as well as end of term trips to build relationships amongst staff and pupils and have fun!
Sports sessions are run in small groups as well as a whole school session. Through Sports 4 Kids, professional coaches make sure physical literacy is embedded and tailors for cross-curricular themes based on the requirements of our school. Pupils get the chance to remember, repeat and refine actions and perform them with increasing control, coordination and fluency. We want to develop team players, who can take the lead and learn to work collaboratively with others. Ultimately our pupils improve their fitness, their confidence and those children that “don’t do sport” are usually a thing of the past.
